The web is an essential resource for many aspects of life: education, employment, government, commerce, health care, recreation, social interaction, and more. The Web is used not only for receiving information but also for providing information and interacting with society. Therefore, the web must be accessible to provide equal access and equal opportunity to people with disabilities.

My role as a graphic design intern is to create attractive, eye-catching illustrations that Visually Impaired People and sighted people can find joy and pleasure looking at. Also, to help people understand VIPs World Services goals and what our hardworking, wonderful team has to offer.

Creating something for people who don’t have any difficulties related to vision or reading is not a big deal. The challenge begins when we want to create something beautiful and aesthetic to the eye but also easily readable. 

VIP, around London specifically, require companions to assist them in their journeys – with a wide variation of trips including but not limited to: medical appointments, going shopping and games of bowling. However, we have struggled to successfully find volunteers willing to accompany the VIP in certain areas of London.

For anyone who doesn’t know what inclusive design means, it means designing for a wider audience that fits the needs of “everyone”. 

There are many benefits to creating a workplace that is accessible and inclusive to all. People with disabilities as well as people of varying ethnicities, faiths and sexualities are capable of just as much in the workplace as a less diverse team.

Accessible solutions are of critical importance for people with limited abilities. If you’re creating a website for people with a particular disability you could ask them how their condition affects them while using your site. This might help you understand better what kind of solutions and practices you should avoid.

Firstly, the understanding of a disorder by name may be misleading. In this case, many people think that people who have struggled with CP can not do anything. Nevertheless, the truth is that a lot of people who suffer from this disorder have partially functional limbs and so they can work, learn and do many daily activities to live more independently.
